I found this a very thought-provoking and troubling video: troubling in the best sense - it stirred my conscience and made me realise I should be doing more for the unborn. I am still pondering Greg's message and tactics, which I know to be very unpopular with some pro-Life organisations. But I was surprised by how much I am inclined to think he is right. Well worth watching - and also discussing.
I have long struggled with graphic pictures........But I have come to the conclusion that if people were confronted visually with the horror of abortion,many, many would see and recognise the evil that it is.I have recently posted on this subject.
Hmm I think Greg has a point but I don't think graphic images are the answer. People can only take so much truth and when you throw it in people's faces like this people shut down and see red. I think graphic images only really work when there is consent and people are prepared for them
Hmm I think Greg has a point about people needing to see the reality of the unborn child before coming round, however I don't believe graphic images are the answer. First of all the means never justify the ends. Notice Greg says at one point "Our purpose is to upset people" yes he does go on to say that they help them afterwards, but can we as Catholics support something that has upset as its purpose? Secondly, people can only take so much truth. Just as if you are starving and eat loads suddenly, then you most probably you will die. If you are pro abortion and see a graphic image you will just see red and get angry. Lots of people just shut down and any reasonable debate is stifled. Is this really productive? You may push people further the other way by angering them. Graphic images can work but consent is needed and people should be expecting them. I think Catholic should stick to reasonable debate and prayer vigils. Look at the success of 40 days for life. Thats where we should be focusing
