Everyone else immediately spoke of President Kennedy in the past tense, which I found distressing. But as it turns out, they were right, we just didn't know yet that he was already dead.

I will insert here a separate thought, about Ron Brown, killed in an airline crash in Croatia in 1996. That story also got my attention, as Mr. Brown, in the private sector had been senior to a very good friend of mine in a television station in Maryland. It was one of those degrees of separation things.

On 9/11, I was working form my home in California, and a woman called from the company office, and asked if I had the news on. I did not, and she told me to turn it on, right away, and told me what had happened. I was in the redwoods, and the stark contrast between the horror in NYC and my own too serene surroundings was surreal.

This morning, I am almost afraid to look for news, as this date has become far too significant in the Muslim world.

God bless us all, in this world descending into hedonism, hubris, and amorality. I pray that people will may come to their senses, return to the true teachings of the Church, and begin the slow recovery from this madness. And may the souls of all the faithful departed, through the Mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.Billhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00858195676825602917noreply@blogger.com
